观音结 / Guanyin Knot

观音 (Guanyin) is the goddess of mercy. As a historical figure, she was originally a male Buddhist priest, who over time became interpreted as a mother figure. Her endless compassion is needed for transgender folks, particularly as anti-trans legislation and hate crimes continue to rise. This knot was created for a fellow Chinese transgender friend, as a prayer to protect them.
